Gábor Hontvári

Since 2019, Gábor Hontvári has been engaged at the Mainfranken Theater in Würzburg. He studied at the "Franz Liszt" Conservatory in Weimar and completed previously his bachelor's degree in orchestra and choir conducting at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest. He worked as an assistant to Lorenzo Viotti at the Municipal Theatre of Klagenfurt and to Rasmus Baumann at the Music Theatre in the Ruhr Area, among others. He took masterclasses with Daniele Gatti, Péter Eötvös, Rüdiger Bohn and others. At the International Lantos Rezső Competition for Young Choir Conductors in 2014 and at the Seventh Conducting Competition of the Central German Universities with and the MDR broadcaster, he emerged as the first-prize winner. In 2019, in the competition "Campus Conducting", he won the second prize and the audience’s award. As a guest conductor, he has to date been working with the MDR Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra Győr, the Chamber Academy of Halle and the with the Bergische Symphoniker.
