Johannes Braun has been the first conductor at the State Theatre of Coburg since the 2017/18 season. He studied at the Music Conservatory in Karlsruhe and at the "Franz Liszt" Conservatory in Weimar. Masterclasses with Bernard Haitink, Jukka Pekka Saraste and Johannes Schlaefli (among others) completed his studies. He worked as an assistant to, among others, Sylvain Cambeling and the Young German Philharmonic Orchestra as well as to Marcus Bosch at the State Theatre in Nuremberg. In 2016, he was awarded the Ernst von Schuch Prize and in 2017 he finished second at the Eighth Conductors’ Competition of the Central German Music Conservatories featuring the MDR Symphony Orchestra. Engagements brought him to the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Symphonic Orchestras of Nuremberg and Heidelberg, the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra, the State Theatre in Mainz and the Young Opera in Weimar.
