Johannes Zahn was able to attract international attention when he won the 2018 Aspen Conducting Prize and the second prize of the Seventh International Conducting Competition Jorma Panula in Finland (without a first prize having been awarded). Until 2017 he had been studying at the HfMT Hamburg. At present, he is a student at the Zurich University of the Arts. He took masterclasses with Alan Gilbert, Bernard Haitink, Stefan Asbury, Nicolás Pasquet and Alexander Rumpf. As assistant conductor, Johannes Zahn regularly collaborates with the New Philharmonic Orchestra of Munich. He has previously conducted orchestras such as the City of Birmingham’s Symphony Orchestra, the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berne Symphony Orchestra, the Festival Strings in Lucerne, the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra in Ostrava, the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra in Bucharest and many more.
